Cultural Exchange
Cultural exchange is an important part of all Partnership activities, especially as every aspect of the Partnership emphasizes joining the work of two different countries and cultures, along with disciplines and areas of expertise. Cultural events are included in the planning of workshops and exchanges, including tours, museum visits, concerts, introductory language tutorials, and many opportunities to get to know the hosting community. Furthermore, the work done between delegates from UGA and Tunisia provides an international forum in its own right, and creates more awareness and hopefully increased understanding in both US and Tunisian cultures.
The High Institute of Music of Sousse
The High Institute of Music of Sousse has collaborated with the Partnership for several cultural events. These concerts have showcased Tunisian music while also promoting interest in Tunisian culture:
- Performance for Tunisian Public Service and Outreach Delegation, June 2006
- Performance for UGA Leadership Delegation, June 2005
- Performance for UGA E-Learning Delegation, April 2005
Delegation Cultural Activities
As part of Partnership workshops and exchanges, delegates participate in several cultural activities to better understand the hosting community, and to share their own culture. Tunisian delegates have attended dinners and receptions at UGA administrator’s homes, and toured Atlanta attractions such as the Civil Rights Museum and the Georgia Aquarium. UGA delegates have toured Tunisia’s many historical sites, and also have attended dinners and receptions hosted by various members of the Tunisian higher education community. Other cultural events include concerts, introductory language study, and presentations on Tunisian culture.
